Open competition

Poetry competition rules

1. Entry is open to everybody from anywhere; but entries must be in English.

2. Entries must be the original and unpublished work of the entrant and not be submitted elsewhere for publication, or for another competition, while judging is in progress for this competition.

3. The maximum line count is 40 lines.

4. The prize is €150 and publication on the websites askaboutwriting.net and www.writingclub

5. No entry form is required.

6. Place your entry in the body of an email.

7. Include, beneath the entry, a word count, a 50-word author's bio, contact number, and your postal address for remission of the prize should you be the winner.

8. Please follow this TWO-STEP entry procedure to smooth the way for your entry.

(a) Email your entry here before the closing date of midnight on January 14, 2009.

(b) Remit your entry fee by post or through PayPal.

Entries will not go to judging until payment is received.
(If you do not wish to use PayPal, you may remit your entry fee by post. But, you must email the entry itself. Please contact us to make arrangements for this.)

7. Entry fee is € 8 per poem. You may enter as many times as you like; but each entry must be submitted separately. Multiple entries in the same email are void.

Please note, if you are entering from a non-Eurozone country, PayPal will convert the euro amount to your own currency on your credit card statement

8. A confirmation email of receipt of your entry will be sent to you.

9. Deadline is midnight January 14, 2009.

10. A winner will be announced on February 18, 2008

11. No alterations or changes will be allowed to entries once received, no correspondence will be entered into.

12. Judges will be appointed by Writing Club and a judge's decision is final.

13. The winner grants the organizers the right to publish the winning entry on www.writingclub.org and on www.askaboutwriting.net as part of the competition prize.

14. Entry to the competition means acceptance of these rules.
