The WW1 shared history play/project, 'We Were Brothers,' has its premiere at the Waterside Theatre in Derry on November 4, plays till the 7th at 8pm nightly and transfers to the Playhouse in Derry on the 11th. There's an abridged, lunchtime performance in St Columb's C of I Cathedral at 1pm on Monday 9th. The parallel schools' adaptation is playing to schools audiences in Derry and Belfast from 9-12, with a public performance at Oakgrove Integrated College on the evening of the 9th. The accompanying book will be on sale at all the performances and is available on Amazon or from Yes Publications. We've had an amazing public response so far and if you're far from the NBW, do log on to our website, www.wewerebrothers.com and share your stories.
Tour venues for May next year include Belfast, Navan, Dublin and Cork (thank you Mary Malone!) and we will know about the funding by December. As it's a Heritage project we are keeping it accessible- tickets are £3,£4 and £6 and the book's £4.50. It's Handful/Postcript's biggest budget and most ambitious production so far, so wish us luck....and if you are in the audience, make yourself known! _________________ Freelance writer working in community arts sector;co-founder of writing/performance group; film maker; published novelist; miscarriage of justice activist |
